Route Description
Leaving The Grand at Grasmere
Begin from the hotel and make your way into Grasmere village before following the quiet lane towards Allan Bank.
The route gradually leaves the village behind as woodland gives way to open fellside. The climb is steady, allowing plenty of opportunities to stop and admire the ever-improving views across Grasmere.
The Ascent
As you continue climbing, the landscape opens dramatically.
The route becomes rockier underfoot but remains easy to follow, winding steadily towards the broad summit plateau.
Take your time here - the views continue to improve with every metre of elevation gained.
Silver How Summit
Standing at 395 metres above sea level, the summit provides one of the most rewarding viewpoints in the central Lakes.
Unlike sharper peaks, Silver How's open summit allows uninterrupted 360-degree views stretching across the surrounding fells and valleys. On clear days you can easily identify many of the Lake District's most iconic mountains.
It's the perfect place to pause for refreshments and soak in the scenery before beginning the descent.
The Return
Your circular route descends via grassy fell paths before gradually rejoining lower-level tracks that lead back towards Grasmere.
