Route Description
Leaving The Grand at Grasmere, the route heads south from the village before joining quiet footpaths towards White Moss and Loughrigg Terrace.
The early stages provide an easy warm-up through woodland and open countryside, with beautiful views over Grasmere beginning to emerge. The route then gradually climbs onto the fell, where the landscape becomes increasingly rocky and open.
As you gain height, every turn reveals another classic Lake District vista. Looking back you'll enjoy elevated views across Grasmere village, while ahead the dramatic Langdale Pikes, Fairfield Horseshoe and surrounding Central Fells dominate the skyline.
The final climb to the summit is steady rather than technical, making Loughrigg Fell an excellent choice for walkers with a reasonable level of fitness. At just 330 metres high, it proves that you don't need to climb the tallest peaks to experience some of the finest panoramas in the National Park.
After taking time to enjoy the summit, the route descends via alternative paths to create an enjoyable circular walk back towards Grasmere, offering fresh viewpoints throughout the return journey.
