Nestling at the foot of some spectacular fells and with its own lake, Grasmere is a small traditional Lakeland village situated in idyllic surroundings of fells, lakes and tarns, together with easy access to a range of wonderful walking, cycling and climbing opportunities making Grasmere one of the most popular tourist destinations in Cumbria and the UK. The village has an abundance of gift shops, tea rooms and of course a CAMRA real ale pub. Most of the buildings date back to the 19th century however some of the farms around the village and St Oswald’s Church date back to the 13th century. There really is something around every corner to capture and inspire the imagination. The Summer months in Grasmere play host to the annual Rush bearing ceremony and the widely acclaimed Grasmere sports, featuring traditional Cumberland & Westmorland wrestling, fell racing, hound trailing and lots of stalls with local produce and wears. Thinking about giving clay pigeon shooting a go? Or maybe you're an old hand. Crab Tree Farm have the facilities to offer a great day of shooting at any level. They also provide everything you need to get you started. They have 39 automatic traps at the Crabtree Clay Pigeon Shoot. For those of you who don't know; these traps enable you to 'throw' clays at the press of a button with no need to move from your stand, and no need to rope in a 'Puller' to operate the trap. You can just turn up, buy your clays and shoot!   The shooting takes place in a sporting set-up, in gullies and amongst trees in scenic fields. We move the stands around, month-by-month, so that you can enjoy a different view each time you visit. They can lay out up to 14 different stands, so there's little risk of queuing, even when we're busy. There cabin is the friendly hub of the shoot. Here you can pay for your session, stop for a free brew, get some tips from fellow shooters and refuel at lunchtime or teatime. Guns are available for hire at only a small charge (to cover wear and tear). Of course, you're welcome to take your own gun if you have one and have a licence.  Fibre wad cartridges are available to buy at £4.50 per box of 25. If you'd like to bring your own supply, please note that only use of fibre wad cartridges is allowed on the site. This rule is in place to keep the landscape clean of discarded plastic casing.  We supply basic eye and ear protection free of charge. If you're a first-timer, borrow everything you need as part of our first timer package.

Grasmere is one of the best for natural course fishing in the area, it holds roach, perch and gigantic pike. The record set for a pike caught in the lake is 30lbs. Guests will need their own equipment if they wish to fish on Grasmere and they will also need a rod license which are available to purchase from Barneys News agents in the village and they cost around
